Erin Powers
Principal
A former journalist who has managed media, legislative and investigative projects since 1990, Erin advises attorneys responsible for high-profile and high-risk legal matters.
His recent litigation communications projects include U.S. Supreme Court cases, white collar crime allegations, corporate litigation, Iraq- and Afghanistan-related military claims, civil rights claims, refinery and rig explosion litigation, and major environmental litigation.
Erin was a reporter for The Houston Chronicle and a correspondent for The Dallas Morning News. His reporting, writing and photographs also have appeared in Time, The Washington Post, The National Law Journal, USA Today, Newsweek publications, The Houston Business Journal, and wire service reports. At the University of Houston, where he studied Journalism, he was editor in chief of the daily newspaper.
A former communications director at a Houston civil law firm, Erin's responsibilities there included media relations, client communications, and the development of witnesses for appearances at governmental hearings. The firm and co-counsel represented clients in nationally significant securities, health care fraud, and defective product litigation.
A member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), Erin has presented papers and speeches at conferences, and he co-authored a National Law Journal article on pretrial publicity. He is a multi-term member and past co-chair of the Houston Bar Association Law and the Media Committee. In 2009, he was honored by the HBA for his years of service to the Law and the Media Committee.
Erin is a member of the board of directors of Comp-U-Dopt, Inc., a non-profit organization which provides computers and technology education to children in underserved communities of Houston.
Jane Johnston Mumey, J.D.
Of Counsel
Jane is an attorney with nearly two decades of legislative, political campaign, governmental relations, and media relations experience in Austin and Houston.
She has worked with governmental entities, elected officials, and lawyers throughout Texas. As an attorney, she has represented individuals, companies and elected officials (Republican and Democrat).
In Austin, she served as a legislative aide, press secretary, and an assistant chief clerk, working directly with the Speaker of the House and Parliamentarian. She directed operations for a legislator’s capitol and district offices, monitored conferences with lobbyists, attended House committee meetings, and worked with news media, and state and federal agencies. She was extensively involved in home equity lending and “right to carry” legislative initiatives in Texas.
After relocating to Houston, Jane served as a staff counsel for a Houston City Council member, and worked closely with the city legal department, city department heads, and council members’ chiefs of staffs. She was instrumental in establishing the Regulatory Affairs committee established under Mayor White's administration.
A graduate of the University of Kansas, William Allen White School of Journalism, with a degree in Broadcast News, Jane received her Masters Degree in Public Administration from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University). She holds a law degree from Texas Southern University and is a member of the State Bar of Texas.
Jane co-chaired the Houston Bar Association Law and the Media Committee for the 2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08, and 2009-2010 terms. She twice has been honored with HBA President’s Awards for her work on the committee.
